Committed to the Environment

We continually address environmental issues associated with this industry. We are always aware of our duty to maintain the very highest standards of conformity at all times and so work closely with local and national regulatory bodies.

The European Union's "end-of-life" vehicle (EOLV) directive in 2000 resulted in the elimination of harmful hexavalent chromium in automobiles. The major consequence of this was that traditional "zinc with yellow chromate" used extensively in the automotive industry was eliminated. We adopted non-hexavalent chromium processes that use passivates which give superior corrosion protection and was the start of our journey to longer life greener coatings.

NZG were the first zinc electro plating company to be awarded a full IPPC permit – Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control – from the Government Agency DEFRA, leading the way to a safer and cleaner environment.

NZG at all times constantly review materials and chemicals utilised in our processes to minimise our impact on the environment. We reduce waste produced and recycle.  We were the first UK coatings company to adopt total green chemistry.

Benefits
  • Ultra bright zinc deposit, approaching that of chloride zinc
  • Excellent ductility and adhesion
  • Ideal key base for powder coatings
  • A low stress deposit
  • Superior zinc plate distribution
  • Excellent chromate and top coat receptivity
  • Zinc deposit appearance is comparable to acid zinc finishes
Systems & Process
  • ISO 9000 Accredited
  • WEEE Directive 2007 Registered (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment)
  • RoHS Directive 2006 Compliant (Restriction of Hazardous Substances).
  • Electro Plating to BS EN 12329 – 2000
  • Salt spray resistance to ISO 9227
  • Long Life Passivation - All parts requiring clear passivation are coated in NZG Blue - high corrosion protection which complies with the EOLV Directive
  • Lacquer Finish - All parts are coated in NZG Topcoat lacquer to enhance the life of the products to give further corrosion resistance and enhanced aesthetic appeal
  • Alkaline process - Ensures products coated can be bent without surface cracking. Gives greater coating thickness uniformity than harmful acid processes
